Marian Cross-Country Defeats St. Joe’s and Matignon; Loses To Lowell Catholic By One Point

FRAMINGHAM – The Marian High boys cross country team kicked off its season with a quad meet at St. Joseph High School Tuesday.

The Mustangs defeated host St. Joe’s 26-32. Marian High also defeated Matignon High 20-40, but lost to Lowell Catholic by just one point – 28-27.

“A good start for a very raw and young team,” said head coach Chris Collins.

Juniors Eric Zhang and Tony He finished in 20:54 minutes on the 3-mile course.

Freshman Dartagnan Rupert finished less than one second behind at 20:55 minutes.

Other top runners for the Mustangs were:

  • Freshman Lucas Paixao at 21:02 minutes
  • Junior Howard Yang at 21:46
  • Freshman Isaac Terrell  at 23:30

Sophomore Jordan Perry had a superb start before being withdrawn by Coach Collins, due a knee issue.

“He likely would have made the difference versus Lowell Catholic,” said Collins.

The Mustangs start the season with a 2-1 record.

Next up for the Mustangs is a road meet against Archbishop Williams on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
