Framingham Responding to Island Brush Fire

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Fire Department has a couple of boats in the Sudbury River to extinguish an island brush fire, said Framingham Fire Chief Joseph Hicks. The department also has a couple of engines on Central Street dealing with the fire.

Hicks said the call came in just about 10:30 a.m. for the brush fire on the island in the Sudbury River, off Central Street near the Wickford Bridge area.

“It is significant,” but we have it under control,” said the fire chief, who said the cause of the ife is unknown.

“Someone started it, just don’t know how,” he said.
