FRAMINGHAM – Town Meeting member Jim Rizoli is running as a write-in candidate for Framingham mayor.
He is the second candidate to announce he is running as a write-in candidate.
There will be seven names on the Sept 26 preliminary election ballot for mayor. They are Joshua Horrigan, Ben Neves-Grigg, Dhruba Sen, Priscila Sousa, Yvonne Spicer, John Stefanini, and Mark Tilden.
Scott Liftman announced this past weekend to Source he was running as a write-in candidate for mayor. Liftman gathered signatures for his nomination papers, but failed to get the required signatures to appear on the ballot.
Rizoli told Source he “didn’t get signatures.”
On reason he did not get “signatures is because the town is 80 percent Democratic anyway and it would be a waste of time to try to fight that big of an obstacle. Democrats usually vote Democratic no matter who is running,” said Rizoli.
He said he tried to get facetime on Access Framingham, the local cable TV station and they refused him airtime.
Instead for the last several months, Rizoli has been appearing on “Ashland Cable TV.”
“Running for anything in this town is a long shot but might as well try,” said Rizoli.
