FRAMINGHAM – Margareth Shepard, the Brazilian candidate for District 7 Framingham City Council, received the endorsement of the Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey.
In a statement, Healey emphasized the importance of having women running for office.
According to Healey, Margareth Shepard is a “tireless advocate for the Brazilian community” and has proved her dedication to Framingham through her work as a member of the City Council and as a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Center.
“Since the election it’s been exciting to see so many women and political newcomers across the state run for local office. Margareth Shepard is a great example of this new energy. A tireless advocate for the Brazilian community, Margareth will bring that same level of passion and commitment to work for Framingham as a member of the city council. I admire the courage she has demonstrated – in immigrating to this country, in serving as a Town Meeting member, in volunteering at the Good Samaritan Center, in growing the political awareness of the Brazilian community – and now in running for elected office. I am happy to endorse her candidacy for City Council, District 7,” said Healey.
Shepard, who is running as a Councilor for District 7, has also received the endorsement of State Senator James Eldridge and State Representative Chris Walsh.
She has also been endorsed by several Brazilian media outlets.
“Margareth is exactly what Framingham needs in this new phase as a city, she is a fighter and a leader who, constantly, looks for the rights of everybody. With Margareth at the City Council, Framingham will always win.” – Brazilian Magazine
Other Brazilian media endorsing her are Jornal Negócio Fechado, and Bate Papo com a Shirley.
