The following is an announcement submitted by the candidate, per the Framingham Source election policy. As per the policy, the statement is published below as submitted.
For the second election this year, and the first ever as the City of Framingham, I am proud to announce my candidacy for Precinct Six School Committee seat.
The past four years have been quite an experience. My son has learned the just any ordinary person can make a difference,as he has gotten to see first hand how a Resolution can become a bill and change the law that will not only benefit every student and parent in this town/city but every taxpayer.
I never thought I would be that person who made such a big difference, but I wanted so badly to make a difference and set an example of what any one person can do if they so desire.
It is an extremely valuable lesson for everyone.
Since the April election as the Convener of the Policy Sub-Committee I have passed three updated/new policies, was the the Proponent for the letter to our State Auditor for the unfunded mandate of the Educator Evaluation mandate asking for $1,181,000.
I was also the proponent of two Resolutions:Reform of Circuit Breaker Funding and Movement of the Chapter 70 Funding Enrollment Date to March 15 (details can be found at mbrosnahhan4sc.wixsit.com/mysite.) It is my belief that every child deserves the best education possible. The unfunded mandates and the unaccountability for out of district placements should not be the at the burden of the taxpayer nor hinder any student from receiving the best possible education.
I have so enjoyed my work on the School Committee and would love the opportunity to continue.
I hope I can count on your support as I am so lucky to be able to count on my husband and son which I would never be able to do this job without.
I also could not leave out the support of the team of people I have worked with on this Committee the past few years, nor the tremendous support I have gotten our current government from Town-Meeting members to some Selectman.
If this were to be the last opportunity to write something to the public I would want it to be a Great Big Thank You!
Good luck to all the candidates come November.
