Framingham Superintendent Appoints Director of Elementary Education

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Superintendent of Schools Bob Tremblay announced this morning, June 19, Dr. Grace Wai as the Director of Elementary Education for the Framingham Public Schools.

This is a newly-created position, along with the newly-created position of Director of Secondary Education. The Step 1 salary, which all members of the Framingham Administrators Association are required to enter, pays $128,200.42. However, the Administrators’ contract allows members who move to different FAA positions, to either keep the same salary they are making or move to Step 1 of their new position – whichever is higher, explained Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Inna London.

Wai has been the district’s Director of Curriculum and Instruction, where she established an instructional focus on student thinking and reasoning, connecting rigorous content practices, 21st Century college and career readiness skills, and leading district “learning walks” to collect data on instructional practice.

The position of Director of Curriculum and Instruction is being eliminated as part of a reorganization of central office by Tremblay.

Under the direction of Dr. Sonia Diaz, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching & Learning, Grace will join Anne Ludes, Director of Secondary Education, in the newly formed Office of Teaching and Learning to craft a powerful vision for instructional excellence for all students and will build systems of support for school leaders.

Wai attended Memphis State University and Boston College where she received a Doctor of Education degree.

Out-going Framingham High Associate Principal Anne Ludes was named the director of Secondary Education earlier this month.
