NATICK – New England Patriots star running back Brandon Bolden was stuck in traffic on his way for a fundraiser for Devin Suau of Framingham. So Suau, 6, and a friend decided they would “camp out” under the table where Bolden would sign autographs and surprise him when he arrived.
Suau was also the celebrity at the event at SKYBOKX 109 Saturday night. The Stapleton Elementary student was diagnosed with DIPG earlier this year. The disease has no cure. His parents James and Christine Suau, started the hashtag #WhyNotDevin hoping their youngest of four sons will be the first to defeat the disease.
When Bolden arrived, with his family, he played catch with Devin, and autographed his Patriots football.
Suau is a huge Patriots fan. He rode on Tom Brady’s Duck boat earlier this year, after the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl this year.
Earlier this month, he was awarded an autographed Rob Gronkowski football shirt by Framingham Youth Football and Cheerleading program.
Bolden, who has two children of his own, interacted with Devin and all the other children at the event.
Afterwards, he signed photos, balls, shirts for fans who paid $20 for the autographs. Money raised from the event was donated to Suau family.
The event, organized by Zachary Curro, also coincided with Christine Suau’s birthday.
