Amazon Wants To Purchase Whole Foods for $13.7 Billion

Amazon announced today, June 16, it wants to purchase Whole Foods for $13.7 billion in cash.

The online giant said Whole Foods stores will continue operating under that name as a separate unit of Amazon.

Whole Foods CEO John Mackey will continue to lead the supermarket chain.

Whole Foods will keep its headquarters in Austin, Texas.

Whole Foods has a location in Framingham and a new store is being constructed in Sudbury.
