She succumbed following a series of strokes that began in 2008.
Devoted wife of the late Kevin “Mike” Mehigan for over 39 years, she is survived by her children, a daughter Jennifer Mehigan of Jamaica Plain, and three sons Brian Mehigan of Hudson, Daniel Mehigan of Ashland, and Jeffrey Mehigan of Dorchester. She was the doting grandmother of Caitlyn and Jake Mehigan of Holliston, and Cameron Mehigan of Ashland. She is also survived by her brother Peter Allen and wife Kristina of Westborough. Born and raised in Framingham, Sue was the daughter of the late Dick and Helen Allen.
She received an Associate’s Degree from Cazenovia College in New York and attended Framingham State University.
For over two decades Sue worked at the Framingham Centre Nursery School and loved every aspect of teaching small children. Her robust spirit touched all who knew her.
Whenever she heard music, Sue was up and dancing, bringing smiles all around. She was also an avid Boston sports fan. Her favorite destination was her Cape Cod cottage with her family. Gardening, crafts, and puzzles were her other delights. Above all Sue wanted to help people and put all her efforts into brightening others’ lives.
Family and friends will honor and remember Susan’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham on Tuesday, June 13 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24th at the First Parish in Framingham, 24 Vernon Street, Framingham at 10 a.m.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Friends of the Framingham Heart Study or the New England Wild Flower Society.
