BRAINTREE – Framingham High Junior Andrew Swallow finished third in the shot put at the Bay State Conference meet at Braintree High on May 17.
Newton North senior Nathanial Klein won the shot put event with a throw of 15.56 meters. Sophomore Henry Sobieszczyk of Newton North finished second with a throw of 14.04 meters. Swallow had a personal record with his throw of 13.94 meters. The Tigers from Newton North placed four tracksters in the top five and six in the top 10 in the shot put event. Framingham’sFilipe Ferreira set a personal record in the shot put with a throw of 11.46 meters, placing him 20th.
Swallow also placed 15th overall in the discus event at the Conference meet, with a throw of 33.29 meters. Newton North’s Nate Baronowski won the event and the Tigers placed five tracksters in the top 10. Framingham senior Jake Blumer placed 20th in the event with a throw of 31.03 meters.
Sophomore Jelani Steans finished fourth overall in the triple jump and seventh overall in the long jump for the Flyers.
Newton North senior Sean Ross McClinchy won the triple jump with a leap of 13.20 meters. Steans finished foruth with a person record of 12.97 meters.
Steans also had a person record in the long jump with a leap of 6.19 meters. Framingham sophomore Seth Martin finished 12th overall with a personal record of 5.81 meters.
Senior captain Matt Kimmelstiel finished seventh in the 200 meter race for Framingham. His time was 23.35 seconds. Milton High sophomore won the race in 22.06 seconds.
Flyer Justin Su, a junior, placed eighth overall in the javelin event. Newton North’s Nico Theophanis won the event with a 51.53 meter throw. Framingham senior Benjy Kling finished 15th overall with a personal record throw of 32.51 meters.
The Flyers placed two hurdlers in the top 15 in the 400-meter hurdles event.
Junior captain Nate Halberstadt finsihed ninth in 1:04.24 seconds. It was his best time this season. Junior Liam Kelly finished 15th in 1:06.95 seconds.
Sophomore Ben Burgess finished 10th in the 800-meter race at the Conference meet. His time was 2:03.07 minutes. Sophomore Theo Burba of Newton North High won the race in 1:58.07 minutes.
Sophomore Kevin Braganca finished 20th in the 400 meter race with a time of 56.40 seconds. Newton North freshman Raghav Kadambi won the race in 51.68 seconds, just adhead of Norwood sophomore Aidan Mulligan at 51.69 seconds.
