FRAMINGHAM – Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal was in Framingham Thursday, May 18, as part of $1 million promotion with a start-up company.

Shaq was in town to promote Ring, a home security startup company.

O’Neal surprised Framingham resident Jane Abro (pictured above) with a new system in her home.

The company also gave away 100 Ring video doorbells. The video doorbells allow homeowners to monitor their property when not home, and create the illusion they are home.

Founded by a Babson College alumnus Jamie Siminoff, Ring, based in California, is running a promotion to give away $1 million in video doorbells.

The video doorbells allow homeowners to monitor their property when not home, and create the illusion they are home.

In December 2016, O’Neal became a sheriff in Clayton County, Georgia.

“I grew up in a tough neighborhood and saw my fair share of crime; our neighborhoods need to be safer,” O’Neal said in a statement. “As a deputy police officer and a Ring customer, I’m excited to partner with the Ring team to further their noble mission of reducing neighborhood crime.”
