She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Marsh.
She was born April 23, 1954, in Framingham, the daughter of the late Rodney Algot Olson of Minnesota and Audrey (Wilder) Olson of Massachusetts. Barbara was raised in Framingham, and moved to Portland, ME in 1984.
Barbara graduated from Framingham North High School in 1972 and then completed her Associate’s degree in 1974 from Lasell College in Newton.
During her time in Maine, Barbara worked for over 15 years as an Office Manager at InterMed Pediatrics in Portland where she established some of her most cherished lifelong friendships. When not working, you could usually find her smiling on a beach, traveling to California, Sweden or Italy, or hosting family and friends around her fire pit. She always welcomed good company and boasted often about having an open door policy, that was used (happily) by the friends of her sons. Barbara loved small house projects and gardening throughout her yard – always looking to cap off the day on her deck with neighborhood friends.
Barbara held her family and close friends near. She was a proud “Mom” to her two best friends and their wives, and even more proud “Nana” to her beloved five grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Gregory Marsh and his wife, Julie, of San Mateo, CA, and Ryan Marsh and his wife, Natalie, of Westwood. She leaves five adoring grandchildren: Alexandra; Camden; Madelyn; and Emerson Marsh of San Mateo, and Riley Marsh of Westwood. She leaves an aunt and late uncle, Carol and Kenneth Wilder of Framingham along with several cousins, Mark and Lisa Wilder and their children, Matthew and Shailyn, of Framingham, Brian and Lynn Wilder and their daughter, Victoria, of Ashland, and Kevin and Kelly Wilder and the “K Girls”, Kourtnie, Kaitlyn, and Kristin of Framingham. She also leaves some of the greatest friends, which she referred to as “her people”, that know exactly who they are.
Barbara and her family are forever grateful for the care they received at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, particularly the treatment by Drs. Craig M. Brunell and Danielle Bowers, and oncology nurse, Shar Giudici.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Thursday, May 11th at 10am at the St. George Church, 74 School Street, Framingham. Burial will be private.
At the request of the family there will be no funeral home visiting hours.
