Professor Victor D’Costa, 83

FRAMINGHAM – Professor Victor P. D’Costa, 83, of Natick and Framingham, formerly of Nairobi, Kenya died Tuesday morning, April 18, following a brief illness.

Born in Moshi, Tanzania, he was the son of the late John & Gracie (Gomez) D’Costa, and the beloved husband of Christina “Tina” (Dantas) D’Costa.

He grew up in Moshi, Tanzania and completed his undergraduate education in India. He earned his Masters Degree in Uganda, and obtained his PhD at West Virginia University.  He went on to become a Professor of Soil Science at the University of Nairobi, retiring to Framingham/Natick with his wife for the past 20 years.

Besides his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his children, Victoria Gutierrez & her husband Juan of Natick, Conrad & his wife Angie of San Antonio, TX, and Reuben & his wife Arlene of Framingham, his cherished grandchildren, Daniel, Tomas, Alex, Sophia & Gabriella Gutierrez, and Nicholas, Aidan & Catherine D’Costa, two siblings, Zachary & his wife Celine of CA, and Martha Koch & her husband Mike of MN, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember his life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham on Sunday, April 23 from 2 to 6 p.m.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning in St. Linus Church, 119 Hartford St. Natick, at 10 a.m.

Interment will be private.
