SLIDESHOW: Cameron Middle Competes in Boston Athletic Association Relay Challenge

BOSTON – Cameron Middle School participated in the Boston Athletic Association Relay Challenge 121 on Saturday, April 15 in Copley Square.

This event is hosted by the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) to introduce middle school students to the joy and excitement of running, said Cameron track coach Karen Dauer, who organized the annual trip for her students.

Twenty-eight Cameron students participated in the relay races in teams of 10 runners – each runner doing a 300-meter leg before passing the baton.

The Cameron All-Star Mile team was:  Finn Lawson, Kevin Silva, Emma Rothwell, and Ashley Lemus.

After the races, the Cameron team visited the Boston Marathon Finish Line, said Dauer.

Cameron Middle also had runners participate for Framingham in the Boston Athletic Association’s middle school 1K on Saturday. The three Cameron runners – Ashley Lemus, Emma Rothwell, and Mike Carvalho ran in the BAA 1K races before the relay challenge. They ran 1000 meters, which is 2 city blocks finishing at the Boston Marathon Finish Line, said Dauer.
