LETTER: Framingham Is A Great Community To Live, Learn, Work, and Play

Around the turn of the last century my paternal grandparents emigrated from Italy and maternal grandparents from Canada to Framingham because it was a centrally located welcoming community with lots of opportunities.

My parents decided to make it their home to raise five boys for these reasons and because it was affordable, family friendly and had good schools.

My wife and I chose Framingham to raise our two girls (and Chocolate Labrador) for all these reasons and because it celebrates diversity, helps those in need, and yes, has great schools.

Now my nephew and niece are settling here for the same reasons.

Our form of government was never a consideration for any of the  four generations of Stefanini’s.

The people that populate our government no matter the structure will continue to be from us, sharing our values and beliefs; and if they are not, we will remove them from office as we do from time to time.  Our structure of government is merely the process that we use to make decisions.  It is we the people that define our direction, that make the decisions.

We need to seek comfort in our shared values, our neighbors company and in our belief in each other, and work together to make Framingham the best place to live, learn, work and play.  After all, that is why we all chose Framingham.

John A. Stefanini
