Born in Brighton, he was the son of the late William F. & Ellen T. (McCarthy) Walsh, and was the beloved husband of almost 63 years to Jane A. (Whippen).
Walsh worked for more than 37 years at New England Telephone and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and I.B.E.W. He enjoyed day trips, woodworking, and most especially spending time with his family.
Besides his high school sweetheart Jane, Gene is survived by his children, Laurel Gagen of Framingham, Marlene Sexton & her husband Michael of Marstons Mills, Jeannette Hanson & her husband Peter of Ossipee, NH, and Andrew of Framingham, five cherished grandchildren, Keith & his wife Tanya, Katrina, Sean & his wife Karen, Shannon, and Grace, six great grandchildren, Aiden, Koen, Adelyn, Ella, Griffin and Summer, and many nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his son, Eugene “Buddy” Jr., his granddaughter Keely, his grandson Carl, and his siblings, Theresa Kervin, Helen Cahalane, William F. Jr., Mary Reilly, and Margaret. A special thanks to Diane Baker Cavicchio for all her kindness.
Family and friends will honor and remember Gene’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham on Friday, March 17 from 4 to 8 p.m.
His Funeral services will be celebrated in the funeral home on Saturday morning at 10.
Interment will be private.
