BOSTON – Senator Karen E. Spilka, a Democrat from Ashland, who also represents Framingham, has been reappointed Chair of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means for the 2017-2018 legislative session.
As Chair, Senator Spilka is responsible for developing the annual state budget and overseeing the finances of the Commonwealth.
“I am honored to lead Senate Ways and Means in the new session,” said Senator Spilka, in a statement.“I look forward to continuing our work to develop a fiscally responsible budget that invests in the people and communities of MetroWest and the Commonwealth.”
Senate President Stan Rosenberg announced his leadership team and Committee assignments last week. Senator Spilka will also serve as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Rules.
