She lived most of her life in Yonkers and then New Rochelle, New York but moved to Framingham, several years ago.
She is survived by her sisters Karen Spilka and her husband Joel Loitherstein, Gerri Spilka and her husband Darl Rastorfer and her brother Richard and his wife Sandy Spilka. She was the beloved aunt of Jake and Scott Loitherstein, Sonya Bishop, and Dean and Leandra Spilka.
Born with Down Syndrome, she lived a full and extraordinary life. She was a strong, independent, and loving woman and was an inspiration to those who had the opportunity to know her. She was a great example of focusing on and developing someone’s abilities.
She was employed for many years at the Food Emporium in New Rochelle. She loved to travel and was independent and spunky and also had many talents. She loved to play “hoops” and was also an excellent swimmer and piano player.
She had an incredible sense of humor and sharp wit. She gave so much to all who knew her and will be remembered, and greatly missed, for her kindness and constant smile.
For the last several years, she was suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease.
