FRAMINGHAM – Once a week, someone enters Samba West thinking they are at Samba Steak & Sushi, said owner Joseph Zhang.
Zhang who owns both Samba Steak & Sushi House on Route 9 East and Samba West on Route 9 West, went before Framingham Selectmen last night for a name change on his licenses with the Town of Framingham.
Selectmen unanimously agreed to the name change, and soon Samba West will be China Gourmet Sushi & Lounge.
“Deliveries have been made to the wrong addresses,” Zhang told Framingham Source earlier this month. “Customers are confused, the delivery guys are confused, so best for a new name.”
Zhang said Samba West gift cards will still be accepted, even after the name change.
“The focus at China Gourmet will be on Chinese food,” said Zhang. “Now, everyone will know it is a Chinese food restaurant.”
Zhang said people would arrive at Samba West thinking it had the hibachi grills like Samba Steak and Sushi on Route 9 East.
“No longer will there be confusion,” said Zhang.
Zhang purchased the former Chef Orient in 2012, and renamed it Samba West.
