School For Children With Autism Proposed For Residential Property in Nobscot

Realizing Children’s Strengths (RCS) Learning Center wants to build a school for children with autism in Framingham.

The non-profit Natick organization wants to construct a 2-story school on resiential property at 82 Edmands Road and 874 Edgell Road in the Nobscot section of Framingham.

The school, founded in 2006 by Louis Ranieri, is currently loated on Strathmore Road inNatick, behind Sherwood Plaza.

The property is zoned as residential, but the applicant filed an application with the Framingham PlanningBoard under the state’s Dover amendment, which exempts schools from most community zoning laws.

RCS Learning Center is scheduled to make a presentation before the Framingham Planning Board on Thursday night, April 28 at 6 p.m. The earlier time is due to Framingham’s Annual Town Meeting.

The school is seeking a permit from the Planning Board for public way access, stormwater drainage improvement and parking.

The estimated cost of the new school is $5 million. The property is currently assessed at just under $465,000.
